Re: Capacity check in the Sales order

Adnan,

There is no standard solution for this business requirement in ECC.

APO does offer some standard solutions in GATP.  Among them are Capable To Promise and Mulilevel ATP.

Check Methods - SAP Library

Many companies have used workarounds in ECC, without enhancement, to implement such business requirements.  Here are four that come to mind

1.  Using Strategy 60 or 63, and then creating a plan (Planned independent requirements) for the Planning material that is constrained by capacity.  ATP is performed against unconsumed PIRs, which in effect represent unconsumed capacity.

Planning w/ a Planning Material and w/o MTO (63) - Demand Management (PP-MP-DEM) - SAP Library

2.  Leaving orders unconfirmed upon initial entry.  Then, periodically, running a job with a series of steps:

a. MRP (create planned orders),

b. run capacity leveling (moving the planned orders such that they all are compliant with capacity restrictions), and then firming these cap-constrained orders,

Capacity Leveling (PP-CRP-LVL) - SAP Library

c.  rescheduling to confirm the sales orders against the cap-levelled planned orders.

3.  Using product allocation as a substitute for actual capacity based ATP.  Set your product allocation limits to correspond to your capacity constraints.

Availability Check Against Product Allocation - Availability Check and Requirements in Sales and Distribution Pr - SAP L…

Of course, as you mention, if these standard solutions are not suitable to meet your business requirements, then there is always the option of using enhancements.

Best Regards,
